St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church is a light set on a hill amidst the darkness. Scripture says, ‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden....your light must shine before others, so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly father.’

Our parish family has been abundantly blessed to literally be set apart upon a hill on this beautiful campus. But it all started in 1998 when 233 people met at Mountain Ridge Elementary School to celebrate Mass, and grow closer to our Lord through the Sacraments. Those 233 people took a leap of faith, and answered God’s call to lay forth a foundation for future generations of Catholics in this diocese. Their generous “Yes” to the Lord’s call is in many ways the reason we all have St. Gabriel as a place to call a spiritual home.

To keep pace with our growth and inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is now time to invest in a special way in our mission, by giving ourselves over to Jesus. We desire to grow our presence in the lives of our families and the community around us as we did when we began 19 years ago.

As we prepare for this growth, we must also remember that the form and function of a church building can help promote our mission to evangelize and bring the hope of Jesus Christ to the world. It will help us practically to expand our worship space and to have facilities in which our community can gather together in fellowship, and explore new opportunities for faith formation and ministry.

Ours is a community that has so faithfully taken up the mission of the Church, to proclaim the joy of the Gospel and bring the light of hope to the world. It is our hope that as we build for our future, our parish, as a beacon of faith upon this hill, will shine even brighter in the years ahead. What God asks of us is to trust in Him – because when we place our trust in Him, when He asks great things of us, He will give us the grace to respond in ways only He knows we are capable of...even beyond anything we might imagine possible.
